Sid J. Trant is Interim Chancellor of The ÖíÖíapp. In that capacity, he is chief executive officer of Alabama’s largest public employer and largest higher education enterprise. He serves as the principal liaison between the Board of Trustees and the UA System’s component institutions, working closely with the university presidents and health system CEO to implement policies set forth by the Board while supporting the multi-faceted missions of the System’s institutions.
Prior to becoming Interim Chancellor, Trant served as General Counsel and Senior Vice Chancellor of the UA System for over six years, where he represented the Board of Trustees and the System’s institutions in legal matters, led the Office of Counsel, and was a key member of the UA System’s executive leadership team throughout a period of tremendous growth.
Trant is a strong advocate for the education’s ability to change lives and is passionate about increasing access to educational opportunities for Alabamians and beyond.
